Fuel supply

There are no near-term changes to wholesale fuel supply arrangements for the Town of Norman Wells. Imperial continues to maintain and operate fuels distribution per existing supply agreements and is evaluating long-term plans related to wholesale fuel supply service. Imperial remains committed to enabling safe and reliable supply to the community.

Electrical power supply and power transition

Imperial’s Norman Wells Operations currently generates electricity, using produced gas, which is then supplied to Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) and distributed to the Norman Wells distribution network.

Following end of production in Q3 2026, Imperial will no longer supply power generation services to NTPC. Imperial is cooperating with the NTPC on permanent transition of power generation for the community. Plans are in place for NPTC transition to diesel-generated power.
