In addition to our scholarship funding, we are also engaged in Indspire's Soaring Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering. This annual event, held in Ottawa on March 5/6, 2020, engages and motivates Indigenous students to contemplate post-secondary education and career options. Imperial had a booth at the gathering, is the official laptop sponsor (10 laptops were given to students at the gathering) and led two breakout workshops.

“The positive impact of attending Soaring cannot be overestimated," says Roberta Jamieson, Indspire’s president and CEO. "We want to ignite hope for the future in youth who may not get this kind of career-focused opportunity again. We show them what’s achievable with hard work and, thanks to Imperial’s commitment, we can also offer them the financial support to realize their dreams.”

Our team also attends the annual Indspire Awards, a nationally broadcast celebration of culture showcasing the diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada including performances by Canada’s biggest names in Indigenous entertainment.
