training All new Esso Retailers attend the National Retailer
Development Program; an intensive, 3-week course* at our training facility in
Toronto. This award-winning program covers all aspects of running an
Esso-branded site. Esso Retailers also have access to the Internet-based Esso
Business Hub for continued professional development and communications.
Technology support Esso-branded sites are equipped with
sophisticated computer-based systems and equipment to help you operate and
manage your business efficiently.
The Esso System A comprehensive range of support information
and resources that we call the ‘Esso System’ is available to help you
establish and manage your business with confidence. It encompasses virtually
every aspect of running an Esso-branded site. Imperial Oil also conducts
long-term business planning and ongoing research to identify new and better
ways to help you deliver the best product and service experience to customers.
Merchandising support The ‘Convenience Store Retailing
Excellence’ program includes best practices in merchandising, gives you access
to preferred pricing with leading wholesale distributors and year-round
promotions, and includes regular visits from an expert merchandising support
team.
Territory Manager feedback A knowledgeable Territory
Manager is responsible for providing you with coaching and business advice to
help you grow the business. Four times a year, you and your Territory Manager
have an in-depth structured discussion about the business that provides you
with valuable feedback to help you maximize your business success.
Peer coaching You may be matched with a more experienced Esso
Retailer who is available to offer ongoing assistance and support. Of course,
you also stay in contact with other Esso Retailers across the Esso-branded
network to exchange ideas, suggestions and best practices about new and
effective ways to grow the business.

of site sales data
• A toll-free Help Desk providing technical assistance when you need it
• On-line customer surveys – a valuable tool that helps track the site’s
success in providing the best customer experiences
* The National Retailer Development Program is mandatory for all new Esso
Retailers. The cost of the course, and any expenses associated with attending
the course, are the responsibility of the course participant.
