Cold Lake Imperial Oil first established itself in the Lakeland area more than 50 years ago. Today, Imperial’s operations include more than 4,000 active wells drilled from some 200 multi-well pads, four plants that generate steam and process bitumen, and a 170-megawatt cogeneration unit. Imperial Oil has a staff of over 1,000 employees and contractors in the Cold Lake area and is continuing to progress plans to expand its Cold Lake operations, developing a new area known as Nabiye.
